Two years after a global pandemic turned most of humanity into feral, infected creatures called Freakers, former outlaw biker Deacon St. John is surviving in the high desert of Oregon. He works as a bounty hunter and drifter, riding his customised motorcycle between crumbling settlements and hostile camps, taking odd jobs and staying alive. Everyone he cared about is gone — except Sarah, his wife, whose fate is the one mystery that keeps him moving forward.

Days Gone is an open-world survival action game set across a beautifully rendered Pacific Northwest wilderness that changes with season, weather and time of day. Deacon's bike is as central to the experience as he is — fuel, upgrades and maintenance matter on every run. Freaker hordes are the game's defining set pieces: swarms of hundreds of infected that move as a fluid, dynamic mass and require preparation, planning and environmental traps to survive. A deep weapon and equipment crafting system rewards scavenging. The story, initially slow-burning, builds into a surprisingly emotional character study that found a devoted audience on PC and continues to grow through word of mouth.
