From refugee to Champion of Kirkwall — Hawke's decade of survival, politics and war in a city on the edge.

* Prices for US region
The Fifth Blight has destroyed the village of Lothering, and Hawke's family are among the thousands fleeing north to Kirkwall — a city-state in the Free Marches already straining under the weight of refugees, political corruption and a simmering war between the city's Mages and the Templars sworn to control them. Over the course of a decade, Hawke rises from penniless newcomer to the legendary Champion of Kirkwall, drawn into every major conflict the city endures. The story is told in retrospect, narrated by the roguish dwarf Varric Tethras under interrogation by a Chantry Seeker — which gives the entire game an unusually personal, almost literary framing.

Dragon Age II is more intimate than its predecessor and its successor. The entire game takes place in and around Kirkwall, which means the city becomes deeply familiar — its districts, its politics and its characters evolve across the three acts in ways that feel genuinely lived-in. Combat is faster and more action-oriented than Origins. The Friendship and Rivalry companion system replaces simple approval — you can build an intensely antagonistic but loyal relationship with any companion, depending entirely on how you play. Six major DLC packs were released, two of which — Legacy and Mark of the Assassin — advance the Dragon Age narrative significantly. All are included in the Ultimate Edition.

Key Features: • Decade-spanning story of Hawke's rise in Kirkwall — told through Varric's retrospective narration • Friendship and Rivalry system — deep relationships built through conflict as much as loyalty • Faster, more action-oriented combat than Origins while retaining tactical companion control • Kirkwall evolves across three acts — the city changes with your choices and its history • Ultimate Edition includes all DLC: Legacy, Mark of the Assassin and more
