The early 1990s. Streaming does not exist yet. Friday night means a trip to the video store, a wall of VHS covers and a choice that has to last the whole weekend. You own the store now. Make it worth the trip.

Retro Rewind is a shopkeeper simulation set in the early 1990s video rental era, in which the player builds and manages their own video store from the ground up. The shelves are stocked with thousands of unique VHS tapes, each with its own hand-drawn cover art, genre and title. New releases arrive each week, inspired by iconic films of the 1980s and early 1990s. A shady Tape Dealer offers exclusive bootleg titles through the back door. Customers can be served recommendations, reservations taken for upcoming releases and snacks — popcorn and slushies — sold at the counter. Staff can be hired and assigned to specific roles as the store expands. The layout is customisable: walls, floors, shelves and decorative posters all adjust to create the ideal store aesthetic. Mini-games unlock as the player levels up. The game reached 100,000 copies sold within days of its March 2026 launch.
