Venba and her husband immigrate from India to Toronto in the 1980s, bringing little with them except a tattered recipe book that belonged to her mother. Some pages are torn, some stained beyond reading. The recipes inside are the only connection she has left to where she came from — and as her son Kavin grows up Canadian, pulled toward a life that feels foreign to her, those recipes become the only language they still share.

Venba is a short narrative cooking game about immigration, identity and the passage of time told through South Indian food. The cooking puzzles ask the player to restore damaged recipes by inferring missing steps from what remains on the page — each dish a small act of memory reconstruction. The story spans decades, following the family as Kavin grows from a child to a young adult increasingly distant from his Tamil roots and his mother's world. Branching conversations let the player choose how Venba responds to the tensions that accumulate over those years. The soundtrack draws from Tamil music across generations, and an in-game radio lets players revisit it on demand. An in-game Cookbook provides the actual real-life recipes for every dish, playable into the kitchen after the game is done. Completable in a single sitting of about ninety minutes.
