BioShock Remastered

The year is 1960. A plane has crashed in the middle of the Atlantic, and the only survivor has found a lighthouse that leads to a bathysphere, and a bathysphere that descends to Rapture — an underwater city built in 1946 by a man named Andrew Ryan on the principle that the individual owes nothing to God or government. It destroyed itself fifteen years later. Someone needs to find out what happened.

BioShock is a first-person immersive sim set in the ruins of Rapture, a fully realised Art Deco underwater city whose ambition and ideology curdled into civil war when the substance ADAM — harvested from sea slugs by Little Sisters under the protection of Big Daddies — created a black market of genetic power that the city could not contain. Jack moves through Rapture combining a wrench and conventional firearms with Plasmids, genetic modifications that grant abilities including Electro Bolt, Incinerate, Telekinesis and Insect Swarm. Security systems, vending machines and the environment all react to the player's choices. Each Big Daddy encounter is a tactical decision: killing one yields ADAM but draws aggression, rescuing the Little Sister yields less ADAM immediately but adds up over the game. The moral dimension extends to the game's ending. Andrew Ryan's recorded diaries, scattered across Rapture, construct one of gaming's most complete portraits of an ideology in collapse. The Remastered version updates textures and lighting while keeping the original structure intact.

Key Features: • Rapture: a fully realised Art Deco underwater city with a complete history told through environmental detail and audio diaries • Plasmid system: Electro Bolt, Incinerate, Telekinesis and others combinable with weapons and environment • Big Daddy encounters: kill for ADAM or rescue the Little Sister for a moral and mechanical trade-off • Andrew Ryan's recorded diaries construct an ideology in collapse across every district of Rapture • Remastered: updated textures and lighting · includes Challenge Rooms DLC and Director's Commentary
