Crossy Road

Why did the chicken cross the road? Because stopping is not an option, the eagle is watching from above and there is always one more lane between here and the high score.

Crossy Road is an endless hopper inspired by Frogger, in which the player taps and swipes to move a character forward through a procedurally generated world of roads, rivers, railways and obstacle courses. The goal is to survive as long as possible and accumulate a high score by advancing tiles. Traffic patterns vary in speed and density, river logs appear and disappear, and a shadow eagle descends if the player stands still too long. The voxel art style gives every character and environment a chunky, toy-like quality. Over 150 unlockable characters each bring their own world variant with different visual environments and obstacle sets. Characters are unlocked through a gacha prize machine using coins earned during play, with daily free spins. Local multiplayer supports up to four players on the same device. The game's approach to monetisation — ethical by design, relying on optional ad viewing rather than forced interruptions — was widely noted at launch as a model for F2P mobile games.
