In the future, the boundary between the real world and the internet has dissolved. Within cyTus — a vast virtual music space — a legendary DJ known only as Æsir has announced the event of the century: Æsir-FEST. Then, one hour before the show, every connection record in history was shattered. Millions waited. And the question that followed — who is Æsir, really — drives the entire narrative of Cytus II.

Cytus II is a music rhythm game set in a near-future cyberpunk world where the internet and reality have merged into a shared virtual space called cyTus. Players select songs through the perspectives of multiple distinct characters — PAFF, Ivy, ConneR, Neko, Xenon and others — each with their own storyline told through social media posts, chat logs and event records that unlock between songs. Gameplay uses the Active Scan Line system: a horizontal line moves continuously across the screen, and players tap, hold and flick notes as the line passes through them. The chart difficulty spans multiple tiers, with the hardest charts demanding split-second precision at high BPM. The song library exceeds 500 tracks spanning electronic, jazz, classical, hardcore and many other genres from Japanese and Taiwanese artists. A Switch 2 and Switch port is planned for 2027.
