Hornet — warrior, hunter, princess-protector of the fallen kingdom of Hallownest — has been captured and transported against her will to Pharloom, an unfamiliar kingdom ruled by silk and song. Bound in enchanted thread and taken to an unknown captor at the top of the world, she must fight her way upward through this strange new land, unravelling its mysteries and her own past along the way.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is the full standalone sequel to Hollow Knight, built around Hornet's faster, more acrobatic movement and a completely new arsenal of needle-based combat tools. Where Hallownest was a realm of forgotten grandeur, Pharloom is alive with sound and colour — gilded cities, mossy grottos and misted moors packed with over 200 enemy types and a vast array of boss encounters. The Wishes system replaces the original's charms with side-quests issued by NPCs and quest boards, weaving character-driven stories into the exploration. Tools — divided into passive blue and yellow variants, and offensive red weapons — replace the original's spell system. Christopher Larkin's orchestral score blends melancholy strings with soul-strumming boss themes. Team Cherry sent no review copies before release, believing it would be unfair for critics to play before Kickstarter backers. The game had five million players in its first three days.
