Honcho

Showa-era Japan. A Kei truck, a route and the dream of a vending machine empire stretching across every corner of the city. The Hanchō Corporation already owns the best spots. That is about to change.

Honcho is a vehicle-based business simulation game set in a procedurally generated Showa-era Japan, in which the player drives a compact Kei truck to deliver stock, purchase real estate and expand a growing vending machine empire across the city. The game combines the vehicle maintenance loop from developer Greg Pryjmachuk's previous work on Jalopy — managing wear and tear on the truck across long delivery routes — with a business ownership layer that tracks locations, stock levels and income from each machine in the network. The procedurally generated city creates a different layout and neighbourhood feel in each playthrough. Rival company the Hanchō Corporation competes for premium locations. Honcho is a self-published solo development project with no publisher, funded through a public Patreon where the developer posts regular updates and a paying tier grants access to in-development builds.
