Cody and May are getting divorced. Their daughter Rose, upset and desperate, uses a magic spell that accidentally traps them inside handmade dolls. To return to their human bodies and their daughter, they have to work together. The irony of a couple who cannot stand each other being forced into constant cooperation is, from a game design perspective, the entire point.

It Takes Two is a co-op platformer and adventure game that changes its mechanics completely every chapter, building each section around a mechanic that requires both players to work in direct coordination. In the garden shed, one player handles a hammer while the other uses nails. In the greenhouse, one waters while the other plants. Each chapter introduces a new pair of mechanics and discards them when it is done, ensuring the game never settles into a routine. The variety is extraordinary: time-frozen platforming, space dogfights, a full side-scrolling shooter chapter, magnetic platforming, a book world, a music level.
