Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Their father is dying. The only cure is the Water of Life, at the top of a mountain at the far edge of the world. Two brothers set off to get it. Neither can make the journey alone.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a three-hour adventure directed by Josef Fares in which a single player controls both brothers simultaneously using the two thumbsticks of a controller — the left stick moves the older brother, the right moves the younger, and each trigger interacts with the world on their respective side. Every puzzle in the game is built on this dual-control mechanic: doors require both to push at once, gaps require one to hold a rope while the other swings across, and solutions that seem impossible alone become achievable when both work in coordination. No dialogue is spoken in any recognisable language — characters communicate in an invented tongue whose meaning is entirely conveyed through tone, gesture and context. The world traversed is a northern European fairy tale landscape that shifts from pastoral villages through dark forests, frozen tundra, giant ruins and the surreal heights of the mountain itself. The final act uses the mechanic the game has spent its entire length building in a way that can only be described as a single controller doing something that belongs to co-op.

Key Features: • Dual-control mechanic: one player controls both brothers simultaneously with the two thumbsticks • Every puzzle requires both brothers working in coordination to find a solution • No spoken dialogue: all emotion and story communicated through tone, gesture and context • Northern European fairy tale world spanning villages, dark forests, tundra and mountain heights • Three-hour focused experience building to a final act that redefines the mechanic entirely
