The Rise of the Runelords is one of the most celebrated adventure paths in tabletop RPG history. Pathfinder Adventures translates it into a digital card game that one to four players can work through together, exploring dungeons, acquiring items and characters and levelling up between scenarios.

Pathfinder Adventures is a digital adaptation of the award-winning Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Up to four players each control a hero character with their own personal deck, exploring locations by flipping encounter cards that reveal monsters, traps, allies and boons. Combat, evasion and skill checks are resolved by playing cards from hand and rolling virtual dice modified by character stats. Successfully closing locations traps the villain and ends the scenario. Characters advance by acquiring new cards for their decks between scenarios, creating a persistent progression across the Rise of the Runelords campaign. The game handles all setup, card management and rules adjudication automatically, removing the physical game's considerable setup burden. A full single-player mode is available alongside the co-op experience. Obsidian Entertainment developed the game before their acquisition by Microsoft and are no longer updating it, but it remains available on iOS, Android and Steam.
