The Stolen Lands have no king. A bandit lord named the Stag Lord controls what territory he can, and beyond him there is only wilderness. An expedition sets out to change that — to clear the land, defeat the Stag Lord and claim the territory as the foundation of a new kingdom. What the expedition finds underneath the political surface is something older and stranger.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is an isometric CRPG that implements the Pathfinder First Edition tabletop ruleset with a fidelity that covers classes, archetypes, feats, spells and skill checks in full. A party of up to six characters can be assembled from the game's companion roster or built from custom characters. Combat runs in real-time with pause, with a turn-based mode added in a post-launch update for players who prefer deliberate tactical control. The kingdom management layer runs alongside the main story: the player's barony grows by claiming new regions, appointing advisors to specialised roles, managing stability and resolving event cards that present moral and political decisions with lasting consequences. The Enhanced Edition addressed the game's notorious launch stability issues and added substantial new content. Seven DLC packs were released, including the story-heavy Varnhold's Lot and Beneath the Stolen Lands dungeon. The game is based on the Kingmaker adventure path from Paizo Publishing.
