Pokémon Legends: Arceus is an action role-playing game developed by Game Freak — the fifth and final game of the eighth Pokémon generation and the most radical departure from the traditional Pokémon formula the main series had ever attempted. Set in the Hisui region — an ancient incarnation of Sinnoh based on Hokkaido during early Japanese colonisation, several hundred years before the events of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl — the player is mysteriously transported from the modern era and tasked by the Diamond and Pearl clans with creating the region's first Pokédex.
