Star Wars: Battlefront II

Star Wars: Battlefront II is a multiplayer-focused action shooter developed by DICE, Motive Studios and Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts — the 2017 sequel to the 2015 Battlefront reboot and one of the most historically significant games in the modern history of gaming monetisation controversy. The loot box system present at launch — which locked heroes like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker behind hundreds of hours of grinding or real-money purchases — triggered the most downvoted comment in Reddit history (EA's community response reached -306,000) and prompted government investigations in multiple countries into whether loot boxes constitute gambling. EA temporarily suspended microtransactions at launch after Disney intervened, and in March 2018 permanently redesigned the progression system to remove pay-to-win mechanics entirely.

Key Features: • All eras — Clone Wars, Galactic Civil War and Sequel Trilogy; 40+ heroes, villains and classes • Iden Versio campaign — original story following Imperial Special Forces commander across the galaxy • Free DLC policy — all post-launch heroes, maps and modes added at no cost after launch controversy
