You are a Guardian. The solar system is under siege. Stand against the Darkness, alone or with fireteam.

The Last City — humanity's final refuge — has fallen to the Red Legion, a Cabal military force led by Dominus Ghaul. He has stripped the Guardians of their Light and claimed the Traveler for himself. You wake with nothing, find a weapon, and begin the long fight to reclaim the City, your power and the solar system. That was 2017. Since then, Destiny 2 has grown into one of the most expansive live-service games ever made — nine major expansions later, the Light and Darkness Saga that began with Ghaul's invasion reached its conclusion in The Final Shape (2024), with the return of Cayde-6 and a final confrontation inside the Traveler itself.

Destiny 2 is a first-person looter shooter MMO built around a shared-world solar system. Three Guardian classes — Titan, Warlock and Hunter — each offer multiple elemental subclasses with distinct abilities, movement styles and team roles. Activities span casual patrol and story missions through to challenging Nightfall strikes, Dungeons and six-player Raids that are among the most mechanically complex co-op content in any shooter. The base game and much of its early content are free. Major expansions — Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, Lightfall, The Final Shape — are paid. Cross-save and cross-play connect all platforms. From 2025, the seasonal model is replaced by two mid-sized expansions per year.
