Lumia Island is an isolated facility run by a scientific organisation called AGLAIA. Human test subjects are dropped onto the island, their memories wiped between experiments, and required to survive. The experiment ends when only one remains. The test subjects have abilities, build their own gear from scratch and remember nothing of what happened before.

Eternal Return is a free-to-play battle royale that blends MOBA character design with a survival crafting loop, played from a top-down isometric perspective. Each of the sixty-plus playable characters has a distinct ability kit and a fixed set of items they can build, creating a crafting goal that drives movement across the island's twelve zones. Players collect raw materials from the environment, visit specific zone types to craft at workbenches, and simultaneously engage or avoid other players throughout the process. The zone shrinks over time in the standard battle royale format. Solo, duo and squad modes are available. The depth of the game comes from mastering one character's crafting routes and combat kit simultaneously — knowledge that takes time to accumulate but rewards specialisation heavily. Ranked seasons track progress across the player base. The game spent nearly three years in Early Access before its 1.0 release in July 2023.
