Eyes Never Wake

Eyes Never Wake is a solo-developed first-person horror game that breaks the fourth wall in the most literal way possible. The monster hunting you through its dark, glitching corridors can see you — through your actual webcam. When it comes for you, hiding inside the game isn't enough. You have to physically duck under your real-life desk and get your face out of camera view.

The game uses OpenCV face recognition running entirely locally — nothing is sent to any server, and the mechanic can be disabled at any time. But that would rather miss the point. Hidden areas can only be unlocked by scanning your face. Covering the webcam stops your character from moving. And the AI-driven entity listens through your microphone as well as watching. Announced in March 2025 by solo developer Allan Hedlund, the concept went viral instantly and the trailer has been covered extensively by horror press.

Key Features: • Webcam face detection — the monster literally sees you through your camera • Physically duck under your real-life desk to hide during chase sequences • Microphone detection — stay quiet or be found • Face-scan locked areas — scan your face to unlock hidden rooms
