It is Reclamation Day, 2102 — twenty-five years after the bombs fell. The doors of Vault 76 open, and its Dwellers step out into the hills of West Virginia for the first time. Their mission: rebuild America. What they find instead is a land ravaged by nuclear fallout, populated by mutated creatures, rival survivor factions and the ever-present threat of the Scorched — humans consumed by a mysterious plague spreading from the Appalachian highlands.

Fallout 76 is the first online entry in the Fallout series — a shared open world where up to 24 players inhabit the same vast Appalachian map simultaneously. The core Fallout loop of exploration, looting and character building is intact, with CAMP base-building as a central feature and a seasonal progression system that rewards regular play. The game launched to catastrophic reviews in 2018 but has been substantially rebuilt since — Wastelanders (2020) added human NPCs and a full voiced questline; subsequent updates added the Settlers and Raiders factions, new regions and dungeons.
