Stray

A cat falls from the surface world into a walled city deep underground where only robots live. The humans are gone. The robots have built their own culture, their own problems and their own relationship with the memory of the species that made them. The cat needs to find a way out. The robots need something too, though most of them do not know it yet.

Stray is a third-person adventure played entirely from the perspective of a stray cat navigating a cyberpunk city populated solely by robots. Movement is built around the cat's physicality: jumping between specific ledges, squeezing through gaps, knocking things off surfaces, scratching furniture and meowing at residents. B-12 is a small drone companion who attaches to the cat's backpack early in the game, providing translation of robot speech, inventory and eventually a UV light weapon for combat against the Zurks — a parasite organism spreading through the lower city. The world is divided into districts, each with its own visual identity and community of robot characters with distinct personalities and small questlines. Exploration and environmental storytelling carry the narrative, with the history of the city and the fate of its human inhabitants reconstructed through found documents, photographs and the fading memories of the oldest robots. The game runs approximately five hours.
