A medium. Two worlds at once. A child murdered. Hotel Niwa. The truth is everywhere.

The Medium is a third-person psychological horror game developed and published by Bloober Team — the Polish studio behind Layers of Fear and Observer — and one of the first games specifically designed to take advantage of Xbox Series X hardware. You play as Marianne, a medium haunted by the vision of a child's murder, who travels to the abandoned communist-era hotel resort Niwa seeking answers. What makes The Medium structurally unique is its dual reality system: Marianne simultaneously exists in and interacts with both the physical world and the Spirit World, which are displayed on screen at the same time in a persistent split-screen format — a presentation requiring the raw processing power of next-generation hardware to sustain at a playable frame rate.

Key Features: • Dual reality split-screen — both worlds run simultaneously; no loading between them • Beksiński-inspired Spirit World — grotesque, decayed mirror of reality; puzzles span both worlds • Akira Yamaoka + Arkadiusz Reikowski score — Silent Hill composer returns to form • Marianne's spiritual abilities — Out of Body projection, Spirit Shield, Spirit Blast
