Code Vein

The world ended. What survived were the Revenants — humans resurrected as vampires, sustained by Blood Beads and burdened by the need to feed or lose their minds entirely to become the Lost. The protagonist wakes with no memory in a ruined city, and the only way forward is through the dark.

Code Vein is an anime action RPG built on a souls-like structure, set in a post-apocalyptic vampire dystopia. The Blood Code system is the game's defining mechanical identity: each Blood Code represents a different fighting style drawn from a different Revenant, and codes can be swapped freely at any time outside of combat, with individual gifts and skills transferable between them. This allows for deep build customisation across tanky, agile, casting and hybrid playstyles without permanent commitment. Every run through the game's challenging boss encounters and labyrinthine areas can be attempted solo or with a companion — either a permanent AI partner chosen from the game's cast of characters, or a second player in online co-op. Companions have their own backstories and present-day questlines explored through Bond Memories. The Depths system generates optional dungeon areas from mistletoe items, providing additional challenge and loot outside the main path. Three DLC expansions add new areas and bosses: Hellfire Knight, Frozen Empress and Lord of Thunder.

Key Features: • Blood Code system: swap fighting styles freely and transfer gifts between codes for deep build customisation • Companion system: permanent AI partner or online co-op throughout the entire game • Souls-like structure: challenging boss encounters and interconnected areas in a vampire dystopia • Bond Memories: explore companion backstories through cutscene questlines • Depths system: mistletoe items unlock optional randomised dungeons for extra challenge and loot
