The Rover awakens with no memory in the world of Solaris-3, a planet that survived a catastrophic event called the Calámity by adapting — most life has been transformed into resonating creatures called Tacet Discord, and humanity has rebuilt civilisation around a new understanding of sound and resonance. The Rover can hear these waves. That makes them dangerous, valuable and deeply strange to everyone they meet.

Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play open-world action RPG that distinguishes itself from its genre peers through combat depth and traversal freedom. Characters have fast-paced action combat systems built around precise timing: a Dodge Counter triggers on a frame-perfect evade, extending combos and dealing bonus damage; Resonance Liberation ultimates are visually spectacular and mechanically meaningful. Stamina does not limit climbing or swimming, and the world is fully traversable by wall-running, gliding and high-speed motorbike. The Echo system lets players absorb the abilities of defeated enemies and equip them as combat tools, adding a Pokémon-style collection layer to progression. A gacha banner system provides new Resonators and weapons. The world of Solaris-3 has expanded substantially since launch: the Rinascita update added an Italian-inspired underwater region with its own visual identity and storyline.
